Personal Favorite (to date)

As the snow melts and the rivers open up, the poetry in our room is flowing.

Please post a poem that you are particularly pleased with.

  1. Midnight

    The darkness
    Makes you
    Shiver
    The howl
    Of a
    Wolf ringing
    Through the night
    The carelessness
    Of darkness
    Storming through
    Your senses
    Confusing them
    Into the night
    The darkness
    Waits
    Your eyes
    Get ready
    But nothing
    Compares
    To the black
    That awaits.

  2. The Sieve

    The noise I
    Heard sounded
    Like a man
    Looking for
    Gems with a
    Sieve in the
    Sand wondering
    If he will
    Ever find
    Anything
    But
    Shells, sand,
    Rocks and trash people
    Left on the
    Beach

  3. The storm

    As the rain dripped
    I watch as the fun
    Washed away.
    Now what?
    Nothing to do,
    Nothing to say,
    I hear crack after crack.
    All of a sudden
    SMASH.
    Nothing to do,
    Nothing to say.

  4. SPRING

    It’s not my fault,
    I wish,
    I wish,
    I wish,
    Spring,
    That is the word,
The word we won’t be hearing for a while.
    I wish,
I wish I were rain instead of snow,
    To let ice melt,
    Let the water pour in,
    And let the animals drink.

  5. CORN FIELD

    It’s not possible
    to describe.
    too great,
    ineffable,
    the feeling I get
    when galloping
    on my fearless horse
    through the corn fields,
    take in my surroundings,
    and the
    hot summer air,
    my hair frees
    itself
    from the ponytail,
    and my horse getting faster,
    and faster
    until
    the sun sets and
    momma puts
    dinner
    on the table.

  6. MAGIC SWEET THING
    As I
    put this
    rough
    magical thing
    in my mouth
    i suck on it
    and suck on it
    and wait
    till
    it is gone
    and hope It
    will come back
    and I
    can have
    another taste
    of it

  7. Waves

    As I’m in
    a boat
    in the middle
    of an ocean
    the water
    splashes in
    my face
    as the sun
    shines
    on my body
    sweat drips
    down my back
    like a feather
    tickling someone.

  8. Gum

    It could be as frizzy
As when some one shakes a soda
    Then cracks the top
    As juicy
As a roast that you slow roasted for 3 hours
    And the chewing
Could take you on a journey
    As far as Madagascar

  9. ISOLATED

    Where am I?
I am in an isolated blizzard
    Until spring comes
With yet not a soul in sight
I am dreading what is to come
    As winter fades
    And spring blossoms
    Until I am nothing
More than a trickle of dirty water.
    One measly snowflake.
How can I make a difference?

  10. Ocean

Calm and crisp at times like a mirror.
It has potential as a dancer,
    Fluent and wavy.
    It breaks down
On its brother, making a crash, as fighting siblings do.
It is Yin and its brother is Yang.
Without each other neither would be happy.

  11. Over Again

    So much deepens
    upon

    a pale little
    seed

    waiting to
    sprout

    to start it’s
    cycle over again

    just like
    this poem

  12. Wishing

    The murky pond,
    Filled with uncertainty,
    Waiting for someone,
    Foolish enough,
    To let their fingertips,
    Touch the icy surface,
    And stir the dreams,
    And memories,
    Of those,
    Who have wanted,
    And those,
    Who have lost,
    With one touch,
    They will first,
    Fade,
    And eventually,
    Disappear,
    And those,
    Who have let,
    Their feelings,
    Drop with a splash,
    Into this pool,
    Will soon,
    Fade away,
    With them.

  13. Grass

    Sitting in the field
    waiting for
    the sunset sky
    to make the day
    end.
For a new day to come
    for new things
    to follow
    especially
    greener grass
    to feel and grow
    for critters who
    need it
    most.

  14. HEARD

    Heard,
    What you said,
    Heard,
    The words,
    But didn’t,
    Understand,
    You,
    So now,
    Don’t know,
    What to say,
    What to do,
    What to think.

  15. Forest

    The trees.
    They’re hunched
    And grumbling.
    Like your
    Crabby neighbor.
    They huddle together
    But leave a path
    For the young.
    Beware
    They give
    No mercy
    To ignorant fools
    Who try to spoil
    Those
    Deep

    Dark

    Secrets within.
