Noise

The definition of noise is -- sound, especially of a loud, harsh, or confused kind: deafening noises.

Noise Poems are an entirely different experience!

It has been a treat to watch these creations be spun and to hear them read by their authors.

Please post your noise poems.

  1. Rain
    The torrent of
    Rain came fast
    Like a cheetah,
    Then slowly dying
    Of old
    Age.

  2. The rain,
    Dropping onto the porch,
    In little droplets,
    From the roof,
    Like little explosions,
    They land.
    -----------------------
    The jangle of the corn,
    Could be heard,
    Over the meadows,
    One by one,
    The cows slowly appeared,
    Over the hill,
    Waiting for their food.

  3. Drops
    Drip,
    Drip,
    Drip,
    Slowly
    It
    Stops,
    To be
    Awakened
    Again
    Only
    By
    More
    Of its
    Kind.

  4. Flood

    Crashing hard,
    Faint sounds of fire trucks.
    Screams for help,
But know one to help, what should I do,
    Help,
    Stay safe,
    I don’t know. JB

  5. Noise Poem

    Clash of the Critters
    The little clicking
    noise sounded like
    a ton of warring bugs.
    each with a sword,
    fighting for its life.

  7. RAIN
    The rain came,
    First soft, then steadily faster,
    Beating against the rusty
    Tin roof.

    LEAF
    Taken by the wind,
    It is blown.
    Through the gutters,
    And across the streets,
    Unnoticed.
    Rolling farther,
    And farther,
    Away.

  8. Wood Pecker

    In the woods
I was walking when I saw a wood pecker
pecking at a tree trying to make his home.
And the next year I went back to those same woods
and I swear that I saw that same wood pecker
    pecking against that same tree.

  9. Fall Leaves

Fall leaves glide to the ground.

All the colors of the rainbow.

Lower and lower the leaves glide the forest flour,
hopping to avoid being stomped on by a careless animal passing by.

Lovely leaves, gone until next fall, almost gone forever
    almost gone forever.

  10. Heels

    Her heals clicked,
    On the runway,
    Click, click, click,
    Tapping as she walked,
    Further,
    And further,
    Away.

    Click, click, click
    Just one spark,
    Grows bigger
    Until
    Fire!

  12. Noise Poems

    Nothing Sound

    It’s the nothing sound
It’s a small and very quiet sound
It gets stuck in your head like your favorite song
If you want to know what it is it’s the faint ringing noise after some one screams in your ears
It’s also the reminder of nothing wiggling its way into your head.

    Snow Drift

I stroll down my drive way only hearing a similar crunching
I look down and say so this is the noise creating a musical rhythm behind my sad foot steps, that wash away through the bone chilling snow drifts with in the 3 second,
There’s only the smallest trace that you have been walking though your tracks this whole time not knowing were you’ve actually been.

  13. The phone call

    All of a sudden
your phone starts to go off,
    it’s the mayor.
    He wants to see you.

    Crumpled

    I saw garbage
    on the floor
    so I picked it up
    and crumpled it
    and then threw it away.

  14. I slowly pulled the red ribbon off the gift.
I brought up to my ear and shook.
    It sounded like rocks rattling,
    The excitement was growing.
The excitement that you always get on Christmas morning.
I thought I might savior this moment for a minute.
The wrapping paper covering the present had snowmen on it,
Their eyes as black as the coal from the fireplace.

  16. Rebuilding

It echoes like a person in Haiti
    drumming on recycled materials
    hoping they will get pennies
    to try and rebuild
    the unrebuildable.

  17. It is markers hitting each other
sounding like pine cones in the fall.
If someone dropped a pen there would be a vibration.
You could hear the singing in your head.

  18. The Storm

    As the rain dripped
    I watched as the fun
    Washed away.
    Now what?
    Nothing to do,
    Nothing to say,
    I hear crack after crack.
    All of a sudden
    SMASH.
    Nothing to do,
    Nothing to say

  19. The Wood Pecker

    The woodpecker sings,
    All day long,
Never stopping to take a breath.
    Just sings,
    All day,
    Till Dusk

    B-r-r-r-i-n-g!

    The colorful music,
    So colorful,
    Chimed throughout the house,
    So that everyone,
    No matter where,
    Would hear,
    B-r-r-r-i-n-g, b-r-r-r-i-n-g

  20. Sparks

    Come on
    I need a fire
    click, click, click
    I can’t
    I need a fire
    come on spark,
    clank.
    Yes a spark
    come on
    make a fire.
    Yes
    I might just make it
    one day longer.

  21. Hail

    Hail is falling hard
    Against the chicken Coop roof.
    The chickens
    Squawk with fear that
    The roof will
    Burst.

    The Wrapper

    Kyle ate his cookie
    Seven minutes ago
    but was still staring
    at the Wrapper.
    Without a warning
    He crumbles it up and
Rolls the wrapper in his hand
    Just to annoy me.

  22. The Frog

The frog was sitting next to me,
    On the beautiful green grass.
As I closed my eyes, I imagined
Me as a frog, making that lovely sound.

    Ice

It’s so cold my fingers feel frozen,
I said as I was walking on the ice.
I felt so calm, and everything was quiet.
    And then CRRRK!
As I jumped up I noticed
It was the ice, so I crack, crack, cracked it.

  24. TD I really like your Ice poem. You used a good choice of language in the sentence "Its so cold my fingers feel frozen".
